🏗️ Construction ERP · BOQ and estimation

Build the estimate before you build the project

Take off quantities, build each rate from materials, labour and plant, add overheads and profit, and price your tender with confidence. When you win, the same BOQ becomes the budget that purchases, subcontracts and bills are tracked against.

Rate analysis

Build a rate for 1 m³ of M25 concrete

Change resource prices and margins to see the unit rate rebuild, then set the quantity to price the BOQ item. Example consumption per m³; prices in INR are examples.

Consumption per m³ used here: 8 bags cement, 0.45 m³ sand, 0.9 m³ aggregate (nominal mix, example only).

Estimate vs actual

The BOQ becomes your budget

The planned cost curve comes straight from the estimate. Actual cost from purchases, labour and bills is plotted against it every month. Example project.

FAQ

BOQ and estimation questions

Answers for estimators, project managers and owners.

What is a BOQ in construction?

A bill of quantities (BOQ) lists every item of work in a project with its description, unit and quantity, such as cubic metres of RCC or square metres of plaster. Contractors price it to make their bid, and it later becomes the basis for budgets and running bills.

What is rate analysis?

Rate analysis works out the cost of one unit of an item, for example 1 m³ of M25 concrete, by adding up materials, labour and plant, then wastage, overheads and profit. It's how you arrive at a defensible rate for each BOQ item.

Can it use CPWD DSR or state schedule of rates?

Yes. You can load CPWD DSR, state SOR or your own rate library, and update rates every year or for each tender.

Can we do quantity takeoff in the system?

Yes. Measurement sheets capture length, breadth, height and numbers by floor and zone, and roll up into BOQ quantities. Quantities can also be imported from Excel or BIM tools.

How are revisions handled?

Each estimate is versioned. You can compare revisions line by line and see exactly which quantities and rates changed and by how much.

Does the estimate connect to the rest of the ERP?

Yes. Once a tender is won, the BOQ becomes the project budget. Purchases, subcontracts, plant costs and progress bills are all tracked against it.

Can we compare subcontractor quotes against our estimate?

Yes. Quotes are entered against BOQ items and compared side by side with your own rate analysis.

How long does it take to set up?

Usually 6 to 10 weeks, including rate library setup and templates. This is an estimate.

Can it work with Excel BOQs we already have?

Yes. Existing BOQs and rate sheets can be imported from Excel, so you don't start from scratch.
