    FAQ

    Healthcare compliance questions

Answers for quality managers, administrators and hospital owners.

What does a hospital compliance module cover?

Licence and renewal tracking, NABH evidence, incident reporting with root cause analysis and CAPA, infection control and quality indicators, biomedical waste records, fire and equipment safety, policies and training, access control with audit trails, and patient data privacy, all linked to the records the other modules create.

Which licences does a hospital in India need to keep up?

It depends on the services, but usually clinical establishment registration under the 2010 Act or a state law, fire safety approvals and audits, biomedical waste authorisation, pollution consents, an AERB licence for X-ray and CT (valid five years), PCPNDT registration for ultrasound (five years), a drug licence for the pharmacy (retention fee every five years), an FSSAI licence for the kitchen, and NABH or NABL accreditation where held.

How does the system help with the NABH 6th edition?

The 6th edition, in force since 1 January 2025, has 100 standards and 639 objective elements across 10 chapters, including 105 core elements checked at every assessment. The system maps each element to its evidence, such as SOPs, records, indicators and training, with an owner, so gaps show up long before an assessment.

What is the difference between NABH entry level and full accreditation?

Entry-level certification is a first step; full accreditation assesses all the standards. In October 2024, NABH data showed about 2,500 facilities with full accreditation against about 12,500 with entry-level certification, and insurers paid 15% over package rates for full accreditation against 10% for entry level.

How are incidents and near misses handled?

Staff report from any device, anonymously if they wish. Each report is graded by severity, serious ones get a root cause analysis, and the agreed corrective and preventive actions are tracked to closure, with a later check that they worked.

How does it manage biomedical waste?

Waste is segregated into yellow, red, white and blue containers as the Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016 require. Bags are weighed and barcoded, untreated waste isn't stored beyond 48 hours, records are kept for five years and the annual report is ready for the state board by 30 June.

How does it help with the DPDP Act?

Role-based access, access logs kept for at least a year, notices and consent on record, and a breach workflow: the Data Protection Board is told without delay and sent a detailed report within 72 hours, and patients are told promptly. Most of these duties apply from 13 May 2027.

Can inspectors and assessors get reports straight from the system?

Yes. Licence registers, NABH evidence by chapter, incident and CAPA logs, indicator trends, training records, biomedical waste registers and fire safety records can all be exported or shown on screen.

    How long does implementation take?

Usually 6 to 10 weeks, depending on the number of sites, licences, departments and the modules already in use. This is an estimate.
